Park Naming in the City of New Prague
Pursuant to the City of New Prague’s Public Park and Facility Naming Policy, the New Prague Park Board is in the process of seeking a permanent name for what has been temporarily referred to as “City Center” which is generally described as the area east of 3rd Ave. NW, west of 2nd Ave. NW, south of 2nd Street NW and north of Main Street.
The period to submit names has ended and the Park Board is
now in the phase of vetting the submitted names and seeking public input.
From June 10th through August 10th, the
Park Board is accepting comments on the six submitted park names (which are
listed below in no particular order):
- Mill Pond Commons
- Central Park
- Dvorak’s Landing
- Harmony Park
- Mill Pond Park
- Stromovka Park
Additional
details on each name submittal can be found on the document below which
contains the narrative description and supporting documentation for each
submitted name.
This site is the location of the Praha Outdoor
Performance Stage (POPS) and will continue to be developed with public
amenities such as a pond, trails and pedestrian connectivity to Main Street. A
concept plan for the area, renderings of the POPS facility and other pertinent
information can be found on this webpage.
Comments on the six submitted names are due by the end of the day on August 10th, 2026. Please submit comments via e-mail to Ken Ondich, Community Development Director at kondich@newpraguemn.gov or fill out and submit the below comment form to City Hall.
It is anticipated that the Park Board will
review all submitted comments and make a recommendation on a final name to the
City Council at the August 18th Park Board meeting.
